Generally financial requirements aren't a problem for obtaining a Non-Immigran "O" Visa for entering to live with your Thai wife. To stay longer than 90 days without exiting the country you would need to apply for a one year "Extension of Stay". That requires 400,000 Baht in a bank account or proof of income of 40,000 Bah per month.

"So the same financial requrements as someone who is not married to a thai woman ?"

No.

That is the financial requirement for an extension based on marriage to a Thai.

There is no extension for a person not married to a Thai, so no (marriage)financial requirement.

If over 50, there is a financial requirement to get an extension for retirement. 800k in a Thai bank, or 65k monthly income or a combination of the two equaling 800k for the year.

To get a non-O visa from a Thai consulate the financial requirements are the same regardless whether or not you are a married to Thai national, but hardly any consulate ever enforces this requirement.

At the moment that you marry there is no financial requirement only when you want an extension ?

How long can you stay when you marry before they ask for financial requirements ?

As long as you have permission to stay. When you arrive in Thailand you will have a visa or a visa exempt entry and immigration gives you a stamp that tells you till when you can stay. During that time you do not need to qualify for anything. Becasue you are married to a Thai, you can next get a 60 day extension for 1,900 baht without the need to show money. This can help you to season money in th bank if need be.

When that is ended, you need to apply for an extenson of stay based on marriage and show the required financials, or leave the country.

What is the typical time you can stay before they start asking for financial requirements from the time you get married ? (You have arrived with a normal tourist VISA and then marry in thailand)

Nobody is asking for anything - if you want to stay in Thailand you must have the proper entry and if you want to extend for marriage financial requirements will have to be met. You could stay on tourist visa or non immigrant O visa or other type of visa without more than normal 20k per entry requirement (often not even checked) but if you want to stay without leaving 400k in bank 2 months or 40k per month income proof will be required. There is no set time this must be done but marriage itself will only allow one 60 day extension of stay at the normal 1,900 baht cost.
