Many thanks

I have heard of many a thai wife, borrowing money 'against' the car on the blue book, and without the husband knowing!!

lol, yes so have I! If you look at the website krungsriauto.com they have this 'car4cash' thing. It sounds like the opposite, it sounds like you can buy a car for cash, but I think it means it will lend cash if you give them your car/blue book. I don't know the interest rates..

Does this also apply to being able to borrow against the house book? (Tabien Ban) - Do they need the house papers as collateral or will these money lenders advance credit against just the book itself ?

Indeed, I believe they will lend up to 50% of the value of the house, and of course if you default, you lose the house.
