Bangkok To Lao With Baby

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I am sure many have made this trips with a girlfriend, and young one. I am wondering what documents are required to bring along a half thai/half american baby with no passport (He's a little young waiting for one year)? Girlfriend already has her passport.

Thank you in advance...

If this is a short visa run, leave the girlfriend home with the baby.

For sure the Thai birth certificate for the kid showing both parent's names. Be good to also have the tambien ban along "just in case."

No passport? Reckon the kid may then have to get a Border Pass on the Thai side, so take along a couple passport sized photos. Note, with the Border Pass, travel is pretty much restricted on the Lao side as is time, about three days.

Sidenote: (Passport)We wanted to wait until he is 6 months old, tried not to travel too much the 1st few month (Flooding threw that idea out the window)

Apply for a Thai passport for the baby. It costs 1,000 baht and for 35 baht extra they send it home to you in a few days.
