November 29, 201114 yr I found some similar topics on this board but not this specific question. Once I get to Thailand on a 60 day tourist visa when can I apply to have it extended for 30 days? Does it matter? For example, could I go straight to the immigration office the day after I arrive to get the extension? This way it is done and I would not have to think about it later. Also, can this be done at any immigration office and where can I find a list of offices? Thank you in advance!
November 29, 201114 yr bigbubba1, you can apply at any immigration office for the 30-day extension of the permission to stay you received upon entering Thailand with your tourist visa. Application is usually made during the last two or three weeks before expiration of the permission to stay. I don't know if an immigration would do it shortly after your arrival but you can try. Frankly, I see no reason why they should not do it. The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
November 29, 201114 yr NOPE how can you extend a visa when it has not exspired . elliss, an application for extension of stay must always be made before the current permission to stay expires. The expiration date of the visa, obtained at at Thai consulate, is immaterial for the extension of the permission to stay. It is the "permitted until" date in the arrival stamp that matters. What does the visa expiration date mean? The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
