4,000 CONDOM VENDING MACHINES SELLING VERY AFFORDABLE CONDOMS WILL BE SET UP THROUGHOUT THE NATION

The Ministry of Public Health will distribute condoms to risk groups across Thailand, and is preparing to hold an anti-AIDS campaign simultaneously.

Activities are due to take place on the World AIDS Day on December 1st, under this year's theme of "Stop AIDS: Keep the Promise". One such activity is a charity bicycling event spanning a distance of 8 kilometers that will take place in Pattaya of CHONBURI Province.

For next year, the Public Health Ministry is prepared to purchase as many as 27 million condoms and hand them to people in the risk groups free of charge. 4,000 condom vending machines will be set up throughout the country, selling 3-piece packs at 10 baht per pack. The drive by the ministry is expected to increase condom usage amongst youths by more than 50% by the end of 2006.

Bloody amazing,

a couple of years ago, some mate of Toxin's tripped over one (condom) outside a gogo bar, next minute the American guy who introduced the 1st condom machines to Thailand was called at 0200 to remove all his machines from Nana and Cowboy.

I hope now, he's laughing all the way to the bank. :o

The Yank's name is Guido.

What's the name of the larger condoms in the blue & white box?

and a quote from that headline 2 years ago....

Some 78,000 Thai youth aged 15 to 24 were currently HIV-positive due to unsafe sex practices, the Health Ministry survey found.

One million of Thailand's 63 million people are Aids/HIV positive.
