I've been to a couple of Toyota garages around Khon Kaen this week, looking at the Fortuner. After a test drive we got down to figures. Both of the sales guys said that they could not move from the list price, which i was a little surprised about. However, i didn't push too hard, as not going to book one until the middle of next year anyway.

Question is, has anyone bought recently, and got the sales guys to move from the list price? They both said not even any deals for a cash sale, quite different to when i asked last year.

Cheers,

Mal

BTW list price of Fortuner 3.0 Auto 2WD is now 1,319,000thb.

Having bought 2 new car's one a Fortuner I couldn't get anything off the price of either. But got load's of extra's for free. My method is to stick 20,000bt on the table and say there's the cash deposit what are you going to give me for free. Got to screw them into the ground. I don't think it's quite so easy to get deal's at the moment it's the supply thing.

no real discount here when i bought mine ,just a huge list of free things ,wind deflecters ,mats, insurance, door handle covers, and mirror for the front it added up to about 80,000 baht saving between the two local dealers

80 K Bht , in your dreams.!!! Ask em to put some Wheels on that look right size for your 80K , and they FREAK OUT. As i inferred , insure yourself , but then then Toyota wont Finance you .So you think door handles you can buy from Lotus , and a bit of plastic are worth it, a bargain at half the price. My Wife's Brother told Me.cheesy.gif..

Apart from Window tinting ,the Free Stuff you get with Cars is not worth a 150Bht, all in .Anyone want 20 years of Honda Rear Rubbish Bins and Dusters , and Dead Flowers.cheesy.gif.

Must admit I got window's tinted + a rear view camera, Electric Tyre pressure gauge the one that's in the car that give's you a read out on each tyre including spare every 10 second's, Tax, wheel liner's, + lot's of S/S trim. Oh and Toyota Sat/Nav. Not to bad me think's.

What dealer gave you all the goodies? One I talked to about a pickup, said he could offer nothing, wouldn't even budge on a bedliner and with a long delivery date as well!

It was 2.8+ year's ago when I got my Fortuner used a garage not far from Nakon Sawan 2.10 year's before that used another Toyota garage in K.P.Phet for the Vigo 4x4 also got load's of free bee's in fact everything that was in the extra's book except the front wing mirror, could have had that as well but didn't want it. With that I also got free insurance. If you look at the date's 2.8 & prior to that 2.10 year's, that's the time when they had load's in stock. Vigo was delivered in 4 day's but had to wait 2 extra day's for the bit's to be put on. Fortuner under 2 week's. And that was for the Sportivo model.

I think I was very lucky with the Sportivo as they had got the info about it the morning of the day I went in, and didn't know how popular it was going to be. I had gone in to get the Navi model but just liked the Sportivo because of the in/outside trim. Now I believe that there's a long waiting list for most car's. Problem's in Japan, Flood's, Supply and demand. N.B I tried the garage in K.P.Phet for the Fortuner (Navi) but they didn't offer as much as the other one. Try shopping around. You might get something. Best of luck.

If you're looking for a bargain, instead of pushing the salesman for worthless freebies, try the official used toyota dealership, Sure. It's nationwide, you get a year's warranty, and you can compare everything online. It doesn't mention condition or mileage, but just browsing now there's a 2011 G 3.0 for 985k. I've lived here 5 years and Thais are classic at spending money they don't have on car accessories they don't need. It's difficult to think of anything you could add to a car that increases the value by the same amount. A used 900k car with 70k aftermarket alloys, 30k stereo or a 20k Hi-Kool film job is usually still a 900k car.

Agree Sure is a good bet. But they are expensive a 3.0 G I think you are referring to a Fortuner. It was only just over 1 mil new. But you might get some sort of deal.

There is no such thing as a 2011 3.0L G, so it has to be a 2010 model, which were 1.079M new.

So at 985K used it's a 'saving' of 94K. Take out the free insurance you didn't get and that's 74K. Not a lot to save considering you've just lost 1+ years warranty, have half worn tires, god knows what damage thats been covered over or undetected, and someone elses' mucus all over the steering wheel plus other bodily fluids around the car ;)

The worth of Free stuff does is looked at here from an Ex Pat point of view here. Now our Company has a Block Policy for insurance , so thats out for a start. So with Cars your only left with the Tints of any worth , or perhaps stainless door sills , that are cheapish anyway. With my wifes last Honda , she tried to get some blingy wheels , by saying she would add the extra to their Free Stuff , you keep the lot , nock the 20K off the Wheels , the Sales Manager turned Blue. There must be many Thais who dont want goodies just like her. MRO is spot on , that 94K is false economy.coffee1.gif

You do paint a rosy picture MRO it might have been a 2010 model Fortuner but first registered in 2011. But as you say very little reduction in price.

Ever seen the episodes of Top Gear where they've done forensic analysis on the used cars they've just bought? scary, LOL. :o

As for the advertised year - that's a big one to look out for when buying near-new used. They will always advertise the date the car got it's white plates (which might have taken several months), but the warranty started ticking from the moment of delivery..

In this case, the 3.0L G Fortuner was discontinued in August 2010, and we all know there's no way it was 'showroom stock' that sat around until sometime in 2011 before being delivered...

Yes i saw an episode where they examined some e30 or e36 and had some csi's comb through and what they found was really discusting. Im not a germaphobe but i definately dont follow the instructions when it comes to escalator safety, not going to hold the escalator handle under any circumstances having seen a documentary on pathogens and the nasties which flourish on handrails, atm buttons, elevator buttons and sink taps. I use my key or knuckles in public spaces never the digits.

When i went for my first Camry in 2007 ( 2.4 V ) and asked the dealer what i would get if i paid the car cash there and then.

Answer, Nothing not a Baht discount or goodies.

But if would use the finance plan from Toyota i would receive all the goodies and an one year free first class insurance.

The interest for the finance plan was 0 % for the first year.

So in the end i put the money on a bank account and placed a deposit for the car.

The rest i paid with the Toyota finance plan and used the 1 year interest free period.

With this i made a little bit interest from the bank account and paid no interest on the loan.

And besides this i received a one year free insurance and all the rest of the goodies.
