Wondering if anyone can tell me what's involved into temporarily bringing an NZ or AUS registered bike into Thailand? Plan is to ride from Thailand through Laos, Cambodia, vietnam, china and back

But having a hard time finding info, and wondered if someone could point me to relevant laws / info, or if anyone on here's done this - and what pitfalls to avoid?

( ran into a couple of Aussies with AUS bikes last time I was in Laos!)

Probably wouldn't be till late 2k12, but any tips anyone could share would be great!

Check out GT Rider's website for the info you're looking for. Generally, you must have proof of ownership, you must have a visa for the country you are visiting, you will need to buy insurance for your bike in every country you enter. Your bike will be written into your passport so it must leave with you. There may be some border crossings that won't allow you entry with your bike but other's will. I don't know the rational there but it has happened.
