Hi all i have a question about my visa.

My non immigrant category O visa was issued in England and is valid until June 2012.

I have been crossing the border to Laos every 90 days to get my stamp, but i want to know if i can get the same visa from Laos or another neighboring country when this one expires or would i have to return to England?

I've been reading a few threads about it may be possible if you have a Thai wife, now i'm not married to a Thai citizen but my father is.

Apologies if this has been asked before but i cant seem to find the answer.

Married to Thai wife

  • Based on latest reports from members, once you are married you can get a new multiple-entry non-O visa for the purpose of visiting Thai Wife in Savannakhet, Laos and in Kuala Lumphur, Malaysia. See this pinned topic for links to the latest reports.
  • After marriage, you also have the option of getting yearly extensions of stay for the reason of living with your Thai wife. See clause 2.18(5) of Police Order 777/2551.

  • I have seen no recent reports by members about getting a non-O visa from a Thai consulate in the region for visiting one's foreign father in Thailand. The website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (inaccessible to me at the moment) indicates "visit family" as one purpose of the non-O visa but it will depend on the consulate whether or not to issue it. I suggest you give Savannakhet and Kuala Lumphur a call.
  • If your father is in Thailand on a yearly extension of stay, depending on his type of extension and your age you may qualifiy for a dependent extensions of stay under clause 2.20(4) of Police Order 777/2551.
