Driving From Thailand To Cambodia

Featured Replies

I am looking for info on what happens if I cross the Thai border in Surin and journey though to Siam Reap (Angor Wat) in Thai registered vehicle. Siam Reap Province does not border Thialand (I believe) it is next one inside. I have read on other forums that Cambodia immigration or Cambodian customs at the border tells you to stay in the same province that you entered. On some of the other forums people say the official asks where your driving too, so I guess I'll make something up unless I tell the truth and give some tea money or something. Has anybody done this? Just curious as to the fines if caught with my pants down :-) I have heard of people not displaying the red plate in the window. Wondering if anybody has experence this?

Where does the red plate come into this ?

The don't leave the province rule applies to your red plate issued when you first obtained your car and are awaiting your permanent tags / registration from your local Thai Land Transport Office

Your red plate is returned to the dealer when you receive your permanent plate since they are issued to them so I don't understand your comment about displaying them in your windshield
