Anyone have any recent info as to whether the Thai Embassy in KL asks for proof of outward flights from Thailand for a Tourist visa?

I have one previous Thai tourist visa in my passport, starting 3.5 months ago and expiring 1.5 months ago.

I'm leaving Thailand by Bus to Cambodia when the visa expires, so that won't count as proof of leaving.

I also can't seem to find any refundable flights, and I really don't want to have to drop £50 on an AirAsia flight that I won't use.

I've read the "Latest Reports" section, of which at least one suggests it's not needed (the guy had the proof, but the employee gave it back to him as it was un-needed), and another one which seems to imply he didn't have the proof either and got the visa anyway.

Thanks.
