It lets the inevitable happen. 5 Years from now Thailand will be entering into a full on civil war to rid the country of a ruthless DICTATOR the Red shirt spat will pail into insignificance. Dictating without consultation or ignoring consultation is a hall mark of Thaksin's administration, he won't be less of a control freak this time around as aging senility kicks in like Mugabe. The minister said this was done because Thaksin is harmless and is not considered a security risk to the country. The decision was taken after the ministry's Consular Affairs department informed him that Thaksin had applied for an ordinary passport via the Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates. His original passport had been cancelled on April 12, 2009, at the order of Kasit Piromya, foreign minister in the previous government The cancellation was ordered under ministerial regulations, which allow for a ban on holding passports for those nationals who do harm to the country. "However I consider Khun Thaksin as harmless to the country. Therefore, I decided to revoke the order," Surapong said. The new government which has Thaksin's sister; Yingluck, as the prime minister and Surapong of the Pheu Thai party, as the foreign minister, has never hidden its intention to bring back Thaksin to Thailand. The revocation will enable Thaksin to get his new passport. Surapong said this was the last time he would talk about the matter as, in his role as foreign minister, he has other duties to attend to, including strengthening relationships with other countries. If he printed one up for Charles Manson or Jack the Ripper, do you figure they'd get into the country- (assuming, of course, Jack the Ripper was still alive in this analogy)? The real news will break if and when he steps off the plane on Thai territory. Everything that happens before that is just posturing and puffing of the chests. I think when he does return, it will be in complete secrecy, followed by his hiding out somewhere. Then his presence, but not his location, in Thailand will be slowly leaked over a period of weeks just to let people blow off steam about it. When things have calmed down, he will surface and then the job is done because all the steam will be taken out of his arrival. He is just unfortunate that he got busted big style. I remember Thailand with fondness when he was leader. I felt like it was getting along. It hasn't since though has it. Years of fighting and the country split surely was a high price to pay just to nail Thaksin. Would have been better to deal with him when he was in Thailand. But equally all the others as well. Foreign Minister Surapong Towichakchaikul said former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who is living in exile overseas, has done no damage to the country nor the international community, so he has ordered the revocation of his passport lifted. Surapong stated that the Department of Consular Affairs forwarded Thaksin's reapplication for his Thai passport to him via the ministry's permanent secretary after it was revoked by the previous administration which cited his threat to national security as its primary reason for revoking it. The minister said the reinstatement of Thaksin's passport will be carried out by the ministry's civil servants and the Opposition can use Parliament to debate the issue and ask him to provide an explanation on the matter. Surapong maintained that his order is in compliance with the disciplinary procedure of his ministry and the opposition bloc has the right to file charges against him, if it thinks his decision violates the law. The minister insisted he only stayed in Abu Dhabi and never visited Dubai while he was in the United Arab Emirates. Today politics is not that interesting and exiting anymore given the statement of the Foreign Ministry that they had requested themselves to remove the name, that was added (as we know by now) by a democrat hacker to the blacklist in the first place.
