My friends and i are planning a day trip to Koh Lan on Monday but were dismayed to discover that the last ferry back returns at 5pm... does anyone know is this true? Is there another way back ie renting a long tail or some such, if so how much would it cost???

You could go by taking one of the speedboats located at the beach...cost about 1200-1500 baht (negotiate). The driver will arrange to bring you back. Going this way is much quicker and more exciting although it costs more.

Can antone recommend a place to stay the night on Koh Laan?

I heard that they had demolished a resort there recently.

BTW - I would thoroughly recommend hiring a motorbike for the afternoon and having a drive round...
