Shopping For Cargo Type Truck

Featured Replies

Any suggestions as to where is the best place to shop for a newer model cargo van....the aluminum sided type that you see all over the country delivering goods. Some are refrigerated and some are bare inside. Have heard that it is illegal for a falang to drive a 6 wheel vehicle, so it would have to be a heavy duty 4 wheeled truck with a load capacity over the normal 1 ton, as I'm sure the rv weight will reach that weight when fully loaded with water and fuel etc......but not too long.

Where are these truck bodies manufactured?? and would it be easier to buy a bare chasis truck and have the cargo van custom built to my specs??.

Maybe a Hino, fuso or something like that??

Here ya go.

Saw a 16' to 18' camper trailer (or caravan as the Brits say) being towed down Srong Bra Pa rd. yesterday but didn't have a clear look at it.

It was definitely an American import though as I recognized the body and it was a new model.

There is also an older one just off 7 heading towards Swampy just before Srinagarinda about 30 or more feet long, I noticed it was just parked there about a year ago and I keep forgetting to stop by to check it out when I'm down that way which isn't all that often.

I'd like to now what it took to get shipped here and what tax they paid.

Carryboy makes a Vigo Camper. Suspension replaced with air, sleeps 4

6 wheeler no problem for farang if this is the size you are looking for, but must have Tabien Lech, small plate with green on white plate seating max 3, or blue on white seating more than 10. I d go Hino in Thailand if an inexpensive 6 wheeler is needed

any mobilehome can be imported duty free if it seats more than 10, bus plates

Have seen that Carryboy Vigo and it looks like what I want, but priced at near 2 mil.....it's a bit over what I budgeted.

You sure falang can get lisence for 6 wheeler?? have heard otherwise from others on this forum.

"any mobilehome can be imported duty free if it seats more than 10, bus plates" wouldn't that open up a whole other can of worms, as I would guess that It would be impossible for a falang to get a bus driver's license.

was a carryboy vigo fos sale in classifieds dot thaivis dot com, with genny and stuff, 1,2 mill baht? try a search

TH car drivers lisence covers tabien lech (small plates), any size vehicle

but I would much prefere a stretched vigo if carryboy size is to small. drives better, auto trans, 4x4 if desired, more comfy, more power

A 'stretched Vigo'??....you mean a stretched frame or a 4door dual cab or an extended cab....which would not fit the carryboy??

Yea, I did see that one on tv classifieds and called, but it's still a bit expensive for a used one. The guy was French and his English was hard to understand, but says it will be available after the new years.

And yes agree that a 4wd auto trans would be much better.

Thanks for your input.....

yep, if carryboy vigo is to small, get a vigo, stretch to 330-360cm wheelbase, it can still carry a ton, sufficient for an aluminum build camper

the price of the carryboy is due to its finish, exterior and interior, and hardware like imported toilet, fridge etc

toyota is obviously willing to make 2 door 3,0 auto, as thats the base for the "french" carryboy. and ford makes ranger as 4x4 auto flatbed dropside at reasonable prices. and there is colorado 2,5 manual at 399k baht flatbed dropside
