I know what blogs are and I know that many people blog. What I don't is what they get out of it. It seems to me to be something like a journal, so why would you share such things with everybody. I assume that there is some pleasure in sharing your life, but I don't know what it is.

So, tell me, if you are a blogger, what do you get out of it?

I started a blog but rarely enter updates. For me personally, it is more like therapy - a place to record thoughts and feelings about life that I may never otherwise take time for. As I write for a living, I don't have much available energy or head-space left to write for myself. Not too many of us know each other so it's a good way to share life experiences here or wherever we may happen to live. Also, I find it entertaining and educational to read and learn about others lives. :o

In one word. No! I dont feel the need. I know my experiences and they are in my head and heart. No need for me to write a blog. But hey. Each t their own.

If you don't mind me asking what kind of writting do you do?

My reason for maintaining a blog is exactly the same as Khall. It's sort of like going to see a therapist every week and get out all the things I want to say. Mostly I just complain on mine. I am very happy when I am complaining and even happier when someone is listening to me. :o

I do it purely to show my family and friends (back in Australia) what it's like to build a house here in Thailand.

My blog is a factual representation, not an emotional outlet.

My mate Chang takes care of the emotional side of me... :o

I dunno, what do you get out of posting on forums?

Posting in the forums is like a conversion. Posting in a blog is like talking to yourself and everyone listening in. There is quite a difference.

Well it depends on the blog, but

If you have a good flow of feedback comments and take part in them yourself, it's like a conversation. Just so happens that you start all the conversations.

If your commentators are also bloggers, and your/their posts frequently related to something read on the other one's site (which is a common situation), then those blogs can be considered a loose community, where conversations happen to get spread out over multiple sites.

(This scenario happens particularly often on blogs where "trackback" is enabled. Trackbacks happen when you write a post that refers to another blog, and a few lines of your blog post then automatically appear as a comment on that blog. Readers of that blog can then see what you said, can click through to your blog, and so on. This amounts to being able to rapidly follow a "conversation" across multiple websites.)

It depends on the publication. I'm a freelancer - so assignments range from business to travel articles for web, local, regional and international magazines and newspapers. Currently am working on a few stories for inflight magazines. Speaking of......... :o (I shouldn't be in here, got to get back to it!!! ) :D

I'm too lazy to blog like a blogger.I'm not good enough with English to follow any traditional forms of usage so I just ramble. I do it for the same reason as the others. I think sometimes it comes out well. Then sometimes it is just garbage. I guess I always have a message or an opinion to express. It's probably as far as I'll ever get with any sort of publishing.

It's also a scrapbook online. Just a place to collect your ideas and share them with others without anyone knowing who you are. Well this is enough for now I should go and get some pants on before someone comes over.

I would do it for the same reasons. I sometimes feel I need an outlet but I always wonder if posting such things might somehow back fire on me? My wife can cheer me up but being Thai, I'm only guessing here, she doesn't seem to have the same idea on emotions that we do in the west. This isn't a bad thing though. I am trying to think more like her, which I think is healthier, but talking to her about certain things I like only makes her feel bad and that makes me feel worse.

Have you ever had a moment when you blogged something that you wished you didn't?

Wow, okay, I was unaware of all that.

I write, and enjoy writing, but I can't say I' a blogger.

I have posted some old stories I wrote on tv blogs, and TOM very kindly set e up with a blog on his site, which I have done next to nothing about, as yet.

I guess part of it is because at the moment everything I do is through the internet. In the New year, as soon as I can afford it, I'm getting home internet. One my first goals for the new year.

At that time I shall be far more prolific than before.

I can't write those stories sitting in a public shop. At home I can write.

That would be kind of hard, woudln't? Here is something to think of, if you start writting more what would you share? Just fictional stories? I might worry about someone stealing your idea. If real events in your life how much would you share?

That's cool. I hope one day to make a few bucks with some stray words.

I blog here on TV too hopefully give a smile to those of you that read it. I tend to write with a humorous slant on things. It also helps to whittle away an hour or so when its too fcking hot to go outside, so an hour in my study with the AC on suits a fat bsartd like myself just fine.

Fictional stories I can write, and enjoy writing, as well as real life stuff.

Most of the stuff I write sits and gets re-read many times before posting. Corrections, edits, etc..

Real life stuff.

I have very few qualms about sharing any real story. I live a fulfilling life, and have little to be ashamed of. I generally accept my actions.

There might be a few stories i wouldn´t share until certain statutes of limitations expire...

But then again, there might not.

:o:D

Kayo.

Re: People stealing ideas. I try to be a little bit careful about whom I share with, however if someone steals, someone steals. Some stories are copyrighted already, some not, but let `em steal.

I believe in Karma.
