Koh Phangan Flooding

Featured Replies

Ok, so please forgive me if this sounds stupid but i was planning on heading to Koh Phangan by around the 4th of December but havn't seen any warnings online about people looking to travel to the area and whether its safe to do so what with all the flooding, any advice?

Hey I have the same dilemma. Am travelling to samui on 4th Dec as well. I called the resort, they say everything is ok, but the news reports show otherwise, streets are flooded, debris all over the beach, restaurants are closed, roads are inaccessible. Worst part is they forecast heavy rains over the next few days, so I don't think it will clear up.

i don't know about samui but phangan is fine. it was like the apocalypse here a couple of days ago but things get cleaned up quickly and the weather is nice now. there is supposed to be one more storm coming tonight or tomorrow, but by the 4th it should be fine. it's pretty normal for monsoon season to be like this- it ends around mid-december.

west coast to Haad Yao is fine. a bit or sand washed on to the roads so take it easy unless you want the famous Ko Phangan tatoo!

it's raining on and off but the temperature is just perfect, i love this time of year.

Thanks for the info guys, just another quickie.. Will the bad weather effect travelling over from Surat Thani, should i take any specific route?

Normally by the 4th of Dec everything would be fine. I would plan as normal assuming everything to be okay and only change plans if necessary. Have a great time.

Yeah, unless you hear anything from the horses mouth about really adverse weather, then I would only change my my plans if I something was right in front of me.

Thailand is a tropical country, there'll always be a bit of rain somewhere.

Enjoy.
