Gym, Pools, And Workout Buddy

Hey all

While I am in CM for Jan, I am planning to work out -yoga, gym, aerobics- since I will actually be in one place for a reasonable amount of time. I don't often have access to the kind of facilities CM has, so I want to use the month to get in shape and get active.

I am having a hard time finding info on a good gym online. I have seen this topic covered a lot on this forum, but a not really being able to come to any conclusions.

Any thoughts on this? Ideally, I'd like a gym with lots of classes to choose from -yoga and aerobics, plus the usual equipment. Nothing too fancy or expensive.

I will be living somewhere near Airport Plaza, but am willing to travel to get to a good gym.

Also, any place I can find swimming classes? I know how to swim in general, but don't know the proper techniques. I'd like to go swimming a few times a week and would love to be part of some class where there would be a bit more guidance or structure.

Any idea how I might be able to find a work out partner, maybe? Just to help eachother stay motivated. I know from past experience that this helps a lot. I know I will need lots of motivation :)

Thanks!

FT (Fitness Thailand) sounds like it has what you want except the pool. I do laps across Huay Tung Tao (lake near canal rd.) and Mt. Bike (it's great here at all levels but be sure to get out of town, around this lake is nice too) to get round out my fitness regime. I would be wary of lessons as teaching methods here might not be what you expect.

Fitness Thailand?

I have tried to find it on the net and asking around but I get no positive results.

I would appreciate directions to Fitness Thailand.

Someone said that in the Huay Keow shopping there is a gym. I walked about and asked a couple of security guards and got no feedback. Perhaps it's tucked away upstairs and hard to find.

You seem to be knowledgeable about this subject; your input will be greatly appreciated.

TIA

A healthy and happy 2012 to you!

I can only speak for daytime use at FT, but every time I've turned up for aerobics class in the morning there hasn't been any on as lack of interest (except for yoga which always has good attendance), many cardio machines don't work (this is possible not exclusive to FT), and I only had 1 hot shower during December despite asking the staff to switch them on every time upon my arrival!! Steam and sauna are only on at set times everyday and during this time if no one is using them the doors are left wide open, so a, it takes an age for the heat to build up and b, the changing rooms are like a sauna because the heat is in there and not in the sauna. Oh and also one day a cleaner brought a litter of cats in and they were free to pee and poo in there, I have pictures!!!!

No skipping ropes, no medicine balls, and small dumbells for women are only 1.5 kgs and that's it!!! Good points are, it's roomy, not too busy, and clean (apart from possible per and poo in sauna and steam) and a fairly reasonable price. Hope this helps make you mind up.

Calfornia Wow sounds like it would be perfect for your needs. except the swimming.

the gym at Centara has an areobics class and all the weights and cardio machines you need....plus a pool...although there's no lessons.
