You would have to contact the Royal Thai Consulate in Penang. I am not sure they can issue a visa to a student with your passport however.

You do not get Thai Visas in Thailand normally.

Visas are normally obtained in a Thai consulate or Thai embessy where you live outside of Thailand.

Since you are living in Malaysia, that is where you should get the visa for Thailand before you leave Malaysia.

However, I do not know the requirements for a visa for a Yemeni national.

Certain nationalities are allowed a 30 day stamp on arrival to Thailand, and do not need a visa to enter Thailand for that reason.

I do not know if that applies to Yemani nationals however.

And there are certain nationalities that are allowed a 15 day Visa on Arrival as it is called when they arrive by air in Thailand.

There is a place at the airport before you enter immigration with a sign that says, "Visa On Entry" for those nationalities that can purchase that 15 day visa on arrival.

But again, I don't know if that applies to Yemeni nationals or not.

The best way for you to find out is for you to call the nearest Thai consulate to you in Malaysia and ask them for what you need to do as a Yemeni national to get a visa.

They should be able to tell you what your options are.

Following is requirements as listed by Thai Embassy Singapore so it would seem to depend on what your status in Malaysia is considered to be.

Passport holders of Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, China, Nigeria, *Afghanistan, Algeria, Egypt, Iran, **Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Palestine, Sudan, Syria, Yemen and North Korea are requested to file for application at the Thai Embassy/Consulate-General where they have their permanent residence or long term pass. Applicants without permanent residents are required to apply for Thai visa in your own country.

* Embassy cannot issue visa to applicant

**Embassy have to get approval from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thailand, and authorities concerned.

thanks guys, one more question, is $300 enough for staying in Bangkok for 5-7 days ? and is it safe ?

Bangkok is one of the top tourist destination in the world. If Bangkok is not safe why people all around the world are willing to come here ?

300 us dollars is more than enough in Bangkok for one week.

I suspect Consulate would require show of more money than that to issue a tourist visa, even if they can, but have no access to web sites currently. I believe you could safely stay for that amount.

Hotel rooms can be had for $13 per night (there might even be some cheaper, not really sure) and if you eat like the locals, you can fill your belly for less than $5 per day. That leaves you about $24 per day for entertainment and transportation. Very doable.

The hotel I've stayed at (twice now) is called Om Yim and is just steps away from the Chong Nonsi BTS station, and a 10 minute walk from Silom in case you happen to hang out in that area. They are currently advertising a rate of 850 baht if you stay 5 nights. That's USD $5.40 per night. Even cheaper than I thought, so your entertainment budget just increased smile.png Maybe the hotels are discounting still due to the flood scaring away tourists.

I have always felt safe here. I walk down vacant alleys to get back to my hotel after the clubs close and never got anything scarier than a semi-toothless smile along the way. The crimes you need to worry about here are the nonviolent ones, such as pick-pocketing and general tourist scamming. Although being from Yemen you may already be wise to such things., but us westerners are quite naive about them.

I'm looking at the right column, headed "weekly rate", under which room type A is 850 baht. I've stayed there twice, their rooms are small and have just the basic things - bed, fridge, shower. No way they are getting $30 per night for these rooms, especially with breakfast excluded!

(edit) now I am confused, the left column says daily rate 900. The right column says weekly rate 850. I remember when I stayed there two years ago it was between $13-15 per night. Perhaps the OP should disregard my post until a phone call can be made to confirm.

OK after a call to the business it turns out that 850 baht is the daily rate (not the weekly rate as the chart states). I think they worded it poorly. To me the phrase "weekly rate" means "how much do I pay every week". Grrr...

So the OP should definitely not stay at this place. I will check with my cheapskate, er... frugal friends and report back if I find any cheaper options.
