the subject trucks cost about the same these days for similar specification so which one is preferred? this has to do with the price increase for the new 2012 Isuzu Highlander which brings it close up to the price for a new Toyota Vigo. I don't know that much about cars and trucks but always thought that a Toyota was always preferable given a choice with another brand with the same spec. Isuzu servicing is cheaper, I hear...

what say yehs...?

The Isuzu beats the Toyota Vigo Champ/Chump on every level. The Isuzu is a brand new model (toyota is 6+ years old), Isuzu has better fuel consumption, more powerful engine, 5 speed gearbox, better sound system with USB/i-phone input, reversing and optional front view camera, better interior and a 5 speed auto gearbox instead of Toyota's old 4 speed unit.

and vigo still has a smoother and more quiet engine, 4 sensor abs providing shorter braking distance, and there is no way izu servicing is less than the 1100 baht vigo costs every 10k km

choose the one you like to drive and have good aftermarket service close to you

now if you had mentioned colorado, dmax sister, I would have a closer look at its new sweet engine. dmax engine is dated

yeah...I know that having a service center close by is important especially when you live in nakhon nowhere but what I'm curious about is the basic performance...fuel consumption and a good safe ride...the new models even look the same...

I drove an Isuzu Panther SUV type vehicle in Indonesia about 18 years ago and there was no stopping that mother; you could explode a bomb underneath and it would still ride but it was a truck and rode like one, with leaf springs in the back and underpowered...the engine looked like a meatloaf...the local Toyota Kijang equivalent was a much nicer ride...

recently Toyota products in Thailand have always been higher rated and more expensive than Isuzu and in the small town where I live I now see 4 new Isuzu Highlanders to every Toyota Vigo...if the price is now about the same what's the story?

It really depends on what you need the truck for? Do you require to use it for what its designed for or just as an everday motor!

I used to have the Triton 3.2l 4x4 and was a brilliant but I used it mainly for motorway driving and hardly ever needed the 4x4, now I stay up country I have bought a toyota space cab 2.5l and its perfect for what I use it for lugging all the chemical and farming equipment around.

There is a few other locals who have the Isuzu and I have noticed when they load the back the front tends to rise up rather high but when I do the same with the Hilux the front hardly rises.

Personally if its just a truck for everyday use and not often to use the back for loading things then the Isuzu would be a better choice as it is has more gadgets but if its something for on the farm or using for work I would go for the Toyota or you may even give the Triton a look as they are for me the better out of the 3. I never got one as when I bought my Toyota there was no Mitsu dealer in SaKaeo but there is one just opened up so might look to sell the Toyota in the next 6 months and get a Triton.

Hope this helps
