I just read an interesting story in the Bangkok post about how profitable it can be just to make clones of rubber trees, bascily baby rubber tree pants that you grow up from seed.And then sell those to guys who have rubber tree plantages.

The good thing about this is you dont need to wait 7 years.

I understand from the article that making clones from rubber tree this business much more profitable then growing rubber trees and selling the rubber.

What are your experiences about this topic?

Subject has already started in the pinned rubber section. No you will not make western money from growing rubber saplings, if a thing looks good the Thais will have move in on mass and prices will come down, plus there is a bit more to it then just planting seeds, you still have to graft on the clone, re plant then and take care of them until sale. As is offe case one year there is a shortage and prices are high, then there is a glut and the nurseries can't get rid of them. Nothing is ever easy. Jim
