tommmy11
Hi Teachers I'm trying to find out the average length of time a foreign teacher stays at a Thai school for a paper that I'm writing. I've taught at one government school and I stuck it out for 3 semesters. Thanks in advance. Tom
naboo
Government school - 6 months Private school - 2yrs 9 mths and counting, reaching the end of my stay there though. Would have stayed at the government school longer if the salary had been in the slightest bit acceptable.
Scott
I just did a quick tabulation of the staff over the past two years.(Foreign Teachers only). The average length of stay is 5.43 years. Since this school is relatively new, that means a lot of the teachers have been there since the program began. There are so many variables, this means very little. Over the past several years, I've seen teachers at the schools I supervise staying longer. My guess is that some of the changes in regulations about visa, work permit and TL make some teachers think twice about leaving.
