Vat Refunds Without The Forms From The Retailer?

Featured Replies

Hi, New here. I am in Nong Khai and have bought/will buy some electronics (camera & phone) from retailers who don't have a clue about the VAT refund scheme. Most don't here, there aren't a lot of options. The camera retailer reckons I can do it in the airport with the VAT receipt he gives me (it does clearly state the VAT.) He says he has Indian customers who do this. He says it is important my name and address is on the receipt, which gels with what I have read. But no forms. Can I do the forms at the airport?

Any suggestions? Total purchase (three items) in the region of 57,000 baht so the VAT is not negligible.

I know I would get cheaper/more knowledge of the VAT scheme in Bangkok, but I am not in Bangkok, and the prices/availability this side of the river are far better than Vientiene (Laos), where I go next. I am replacing stolen items. Any advice appreciated.

To add- I will be flying out of Bangkok (to Myanmar) within 60 days, I go Laos-Cambodia first.

There are no forms at the airport as they have to be stamped by the seller.

Better go to a city where they have retailers who are part of the scheme and buy from them.

You require the PP10 form from the retailer.

OK, thanks for that. I don't really have the option of buying somewhere else (I am going back to Laos and Cambodia for the next month or so) so will have to forego the refund.
