January 12, 201214 yr Hi All I have a Thai wife and two young children. We have been living in Australia for past 4 years. My wife is from Chiang Mai, where i lived for 7 years. Both of us do not know Bangkok well but would like to stay there on a stopover from Chiang Mai on the way home. We are keen to know some suggestions on a good clean area with suitable 4 star hotels with possible night markets and things to do. As our kids are quite young we are trying to avoid the night life with the bar girls etc so an area away from the Sukhumvit Nana are would be great. Would appreciate any suggestions on good areas, hotels and things to do for 3 nights, days. Cheers JT65
January 12, 201214 yr Somewhere on or close to the river I'd say. So the old city area, Banglamphu, etc. That's where most of the sights are located too. Edited January 12, 201214 yr by WinnieTheKhwai
January 12, 201214 yr Go riverside and plan everything from there. Most (good) hotels have shuttle boats to Saphan Taksin BTS, so accessing the city is easy. Other spot I highly recommend ( Idon't know your budget, though) is the Victory Monument -area. Pullman Hotel is near Soi Rangnam (nice place) and near 2 BTS stations.
January 12, 201214 yr Novotel Siam Square. Close to Pratunam Market, BTS to weekend market. MBK. Tons of shopping and food. A few temples close by. Taxi from Siam Square to old Bangkok/Banglamphoo/Khao Sarn area is 15 minutes only.
January 12, 201214 yr Author Thanks to everyone for the tips given This has helped me a lot Cheers JT65

January 13, 201214 yr http://bangkok-riverside.anantara.com/ The above ticks all the boxes for us when in Bangkok and want to spoil ourselfs. Was the Marriott and Anantara bought it out and I believe nothing has changed since the new owners took over last November. We will be there again in less than 4 weeks.

I also like the Holiday Inn on Sukumvit. The location is not quite as good as Siam Square, but the rooms are nicer and the food is better.
