What is the most commonly used word for office nowadays? Is it 'tee tam gaan' or is it the English loan word 'offit'?

สำนักงาน, sam nak ngaan is usually what I see written.

Agree with the above. Usually I hear สำนักงาน spoken when it is referring to a government office though.

I mean spoken as in the place where you work. I'd never heard สำนักงาน before. Is that common in everyday speech?

I think that we should point out that there are two common synonyms here: ที่ทำการ (tʰîːˑtʰāmˑkāːn) and ที่ทำงาน (tʰîːˑtʰāmˑŋāːn). Edward referred to the former, but the latter perhaps is more common. As the Royal Institute Dictionary points out, and as several have noted, สำนักงาน (sǎmˑnákˑŋāːn) is used for official titles of offices, such as, "สำนักงานทนายความ" (sǎmˑnákˑŋāːn tʰáˑnāːjˑkʰwāːm) (Law Office).
