Change From Tourist Visa To Non Imm Type B

Featured Replies

Posted something similar earlier but cant locate the thread using TV search bar, sorry

I've been offered a permanent job with work permit. I am currently here on a tourist visa ( extension to entry 1 out of 3 ). The company i will be working for are preparing the necessary papers for me to get a non imm type B business visa and have suggested I go to Vientianne ASAP.

Do I actually have to go to Laos ( or KL ) to get a single entry non imm B, or will Chiang Mai or Bangkok Immigration convert my tourist visa ?

Has anyone ever succeeded in doing this ? Only reason I ask, is that per the MFA website, it says it is possible, but you never know...

Thanks for any advice on this one !

You can try to convert, but will first need to go to the labour office to apply for a work permit and get a wp3 form. You will also need to fo that when applying at a consulate for a non-B visa.

For the conversion you will need to show an income of at least 50,000 a month, depending on your job or nationality.
