Pheu Thai party-list MP Khattiya "Dear" Sawatdipol yesterday presented new evidence to police about the killing of her father, red-shirt Khattiya "Seh Daeng" Sawasdipol.

Before talking to Pol Colonel Wicharnwat Borirakkul, deputy chief of Metropolitan Police Division 1, Dear told reporters that the information she obtained corroborated Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung's claim that the killing was carried out by police.

She declined to say anything about the rank of the officer involved pending her testimony to police investigators.

Dear said she would give police information from witnesses to the shooting of Seh Daeng near Bangkok's Sala Daeng Intersection on May 15, 2010, during a red-shirt rally.

Over the past one year and eight months, the situation has improved, more and more people dared to speak out and she received videos and witness testimonies, she said.

She expressed confidence that the justice system would punish the wrongdoer.

Wicharnwat said police would soon interview four or five more witnesses, while the ballistics test had been performed by the Forensic Science Institute. There has been some confusion as to whether the sharpshooter was positioned at the Dusit Thani Hotel or Chulalongkorn Hospital.

And was it not the same man setting off those grenades, he had the pulled pins around his hat..! And was it not those same vigilantes (men in Black) who murdered the young Army Captain.. It was a great shot that took that madman out... well done whoever it was , police, army or just a concerned citizen..! Was he not just a plain old aerobics teacher anyhow..? And if it were not for his death, his daughter would still be selling Som-tam in the backstreets...!

I must say she is looking better and whiter everyday. Maybe one day she would become Thailand's 2nd lady PM.

Thailand has a Forensic Science Institute? But they can not determine from which building a bullet was fired? And they have been trying to figure that out for over one and a half year? Hmm, is the only requirement for working there that you wear a red shirt?

Strange, to me, that this woman has the same christian name as her father.

I suspect this is not at all about presenting the truth; this is a strong effort from a group to blame someone suitable for the execution of a guy who was at the time a complete loose cannon in more ways than one.

If we think that Chalerm's focus is finding out the truth, then we can focus on how he ensured the truth was presented with regards to his son's role in the execution of a policeman in Club 20, and his own actions in aiding and abetting a fugitive to keep his son away long enough until all witnesses conveniently disappeared. Yep, definitely a truthful guy.

Seh Daeng's daughter's only claim to being a politician is her father; I strongly doubt she has any great intention of risking that; rather this is a nice spot of theatre as always reserved to present at a convenient time by a masterly group of public relations strategists..... ok so we don't have wage increases, we don't have tablets, we have a 2nd rate cabinet reshuffle , etc etc....but LOOK WE KNOW SOMETHIN' ABOUT SEH DAENG'S KILLER!!!!

Good for her profile as a woman and an MP, as she hasn't actually done a whole lot....has she?

It's a fine piece of theatre right up there with kid that looks like Thaksin, burberry boots, etc that the Thai press just love to talk about, given that they are holding their tongues on a daily basis at the moment on various other aspects of governance.

Most Red Shirts were sold the line that the "men in black" were Cambodian mercenaries hired by PAD/Dems etc, why stir up that particuar well? Unles maybe, just maybe, it is a real titbit, a little of the truth sticking out from under the couch. Certainly would not be a shock that he was taken out by his own side, he was hardly towing the line in an orderly fashion.

You're quiet correct, sir. In September 2011 there was a proposal from the Truth for Reconciliation Commission of Thailand to reduce the indictments for red-shirt leaders from terrorism to lesser charges, such as criminal association and "ang yee" ( underground criminal organisation). This would have applied to the renegade general as well. Status of proposal unknown to me.

Second view is that Thaksin wanted to shut a runaway mouth giving away much too much information about the supposedly non-existant military wing of the "protest". Only one more murder amongst many.
