I'm thinking of taking my Thai step-son back with me when I return to France in a couple of months to see how well he can adapt to life there and to get him some French language tuition as we intend to relocate the family there in a few years instead me spending half the year in BKK with my wife and rest of the year being apart from her. I'm a UK citizen, but live and run my own business in France.

I am right that sub-21 step children are covered by the EFA ruling which allows free movement of family members ? there doesn't seem to be a box to tick on the Schengen Visa application for this situation unless I just assume child covers step-children.
