Tourist Visa About To Expire

Featured Replies

Guys,

My Tourist Visa is about to expire on the 11 February 2012 and my flight out of Thailand is on the 14 February 2012.

Do I get an extenstion (1900 Baht + hassle) or do I pay 3 days overstay?

I have to travel some distance to get to the local Immigration office and am wondering if the Phuket aiirport Immigration will charge me the 500Baht a day for the 3 days ot let me go?

Any thoughts?

Thanks

B

You could get an extension but for 3 days it's probably not worth the hassle. Of course if you get picked up by the BiB between 11&14 you're in a world of sh1t, and only you can assess the likelihood of that happening and decide whether it's worth the risk. Getting out - not an issue. Minor instances of overstay seems to be a common occurrence which they deal with routinely. Yes you'll be charged 500 baht/day.

What hassle is there in getting the extension?

As already advised there will be a lot more hassle should you be stopped, involved in an accident or even a routine stop and found to have overstayed and for what amounts to 400 Baht more than the cost of an extension. Be safe; Why take the risk?

yes, pay a little more, and go to immigration make the extenstion. it takes only 45 minutes there, and then you can sleep well.

the problem if next time you want a visa, they will notice you have overstayed, even if it s not a big deal, the embassy can ask you more papers to be sure you come back on time, like a 2 ways return ticket, or full hotel booking.or worse case they can simply deny you a visa.

even for 1 day overstay, i would go pay the 1900 baths.

like this you have a clean record with the Thai Immigration.

Everything is recorded for ever..immigration computers have a long memory!
