Is There Such A Place ?(With Someone Singing Slow/Love Thai Songs)

Featured Replies

I have asked some years ago but have not find the right place yet; hopefully there are new ones; I ask again now.

I am looking for a place where I can listen to someone singing sentimental Thai songs; can be pop or classic but not rock or fast ones.

Can be a restaurant or pub; as long as it is within the city.

I have been to one place near the north-east corner just outside the moat but I don't quite like it.

Thanks.

Maybe you could make up a list of the ones you like and make a request?

maybe your could merge all of your threads into one. You seem to be spamming a lot of threads asking for different things.

My only advice is just get to Chiang Mai first, then find what you need when you are here.

It is kind of hit and miss, but the soi dogs do a good rendition of some of the Thai love songs. Full moon in the spring (almost there) is a good time.

I think you'd probably like Heuan Suntharee. Just a tiny ways out of town but it sounds like just what you're looking for. Food really good too.

Thank you. I google for this place but cannot find it from google map, not even Th Wan Singkham or Saphan Phra Ram IX(which someone mentioned it's near)

Anyone can help me to locate this place ?

While asking someone for direction to take songtheaw to Huen Suntharee at the night bazaar area, he advise me no need to go so far; told me to go to the highest floor of Pornping Hotel(sounds good) instead. So I went, found this place call Batnight or something, just a simple rooftop open-air restaurant selling food at hawker prices and a man singing with a guitar, not great food or songs but really cheap and nice view of the night bazaar stretch.

I like to look for this place, how do I decribe it to the songtheaw or tuk-tuk man beside just the name ? Any landmark ?

As you say in your OP, "as long as it is within the city.", this place is not in the city. It's a ways out of town up along the river to the North. There are no songtaews that go by there for 20 Baht. It's about a 200 THB fare to get there by taxi from the city at night. They all know the place by its name. But why go there? Unless of course the daughter is performing and she is quite good. But if the older lady is performing I would give it a miss. Personally I can't take her voice. Certain notes she hits make the hair stand up on the back of my neck. That place attracts a lot of older BKK hiso's who come up on weekends to visit and schmooze with her. Quite boring.

electrified,

Although my OP started with looking for a place "within the city", I can change my condition upon someone's recommendation; and I never mention that I am not willing to pay more than 20 baht to get to it. Just that I have asked some locals who drive and since they don't know the place, I just hope to get more description before looking for the taxi or songtheaw.

Since you mention the famous ex-singer is not there to perform regularly and the other is not so good, I am in no hurry. Thanks anyway.
