i am posting this in the right thread ? would general thread or even farming get better response ?

Assuming you are in BKK, head down to Pahurat area of Bangkok, just off China town. There are a number of shops that sell spices in that area. They may have what you need.

Pahurat as in little india ? by any chances you know the thai names of these herbs ?

You won't need the Thai names in little India. All the labels are printed in English (imported from India) and the staff all speak excellent English too.

I don't know about licorice or sarsparilla but mint is saranay but I don't know that they have different varieties.

licorice is used in cough remedies in chnese meds; sarsparilla is a very n. american local herb, i dont think its used too much anywhere. if u are looking for cold meds: then camphor, cinnamon, ginger licorice, lotus root would be the things to look for. actually found that the thaichinese stuff worked better then stuff we got from our clinic. takaab brand has a website in english and thai with latin names for stuff.

mostly thai meds are from : lemongrass, basils, kfir lime leaf, ginger, galangal, peppers, cumin, ... essentially all the stuff they put in food is there for a medical (herbal) reason-- mostly for the digestive system and connected parts. fi u google thai herbs u get a small listing.
