I tried to add this to a post but it just hung so starting a new thread.

I am a bit confused by the re-entry requirements for retirement visa. How long does the multiple re-entry permit last ?

I was wondering if it is worth getting a retirement visa this year along with a multiple re-entry permit.

I currently come to Thailand 6 or so times a year sometimes for 5 weeks at a time. While in Thailand I also visit friends in Vietnam and Manila, flying from Bangkok.

Would the retirement visa and re-entry permit be the one to go for or just keep getting the 60 day tourist visas ?

Thanks

I have a Retirement visa which finishes 21/05/2012. I have always been out of the country when my 90 day report is required.

Do I have to reapply again? I'll be back in Thailand March 12.

Also if re applying do I have to drag the usual paperwork with me OR do they use the information supple for previous Visa. I was told to go to Immigration on my return and they'd extend it there-no paperwork needed.

I'm sure someone is having a lend of me..which I don't see as funny, in fact the opposite. Being a female here things tend to be different.

Thank You TV for an intelligent response

For retirement being female is the same as male and you have to meet the conditions each year with the same paperwork. But that is only financial proof and copies of passport/visa/extensions/arrival card so not that much.

But we need to know what you actually have.

1. Single entry non immigrant O-A from Consulate? Your permitted to stay is 21/05 and you obtained a re-entry permit with that date prior to departure>

2. Multi entry non immigrant O-A from Consulate? Your actual visa use before date is 21/5? If yes your next entry will get you one year permitted to stay from that entry date.

3. You have a one year extension of stay for retirement issued by immigration that expires on 21/05 and obtained a re-entry permit for that date?

You should apply for new extensions of stay during the last 30 days of current stay.

If your Immigration Office renews your Retirement Extension of stay up to 30 days early as some do, I imagine the original expiry day/month date goes forward for the next year?

What happens if at the same time, 30 days early, you obtain a Multiple Re-entry Visa............Does this mean you can get the advantage of the extra 30 days of use, or will the Multiple have a life of 12 months only?

Your re-entry permit is only valid for current permitted to stay so if you have under consideration 30 days you wait until you get the final stamp before you obtain a multi re-entry (unless you travel almost daily).

Pardon but I'm a bit 'slow' at moment am full of a Flu Virus and not following. Can I put it a different way?

My annual extensions run out mid April each year and with the few different offices I've been with due to area changes, I've been able to renew the extension up to a month early.

Thus if I renew again this year about a month early in mid March and obtain a Multiple re-entry, can I start using this Multiple immediately which if timed to the new extension date in 2013 will actually give me about 13 months use of the Multiple?

Sorry not to follow, but I need to travel out fairly frequently at present due family reasons hence my current questions on renewals and re-entry around the threads.

How else can I say it - if you obtain early it will only be valid for the current permitted to stay time. You need to wait until you get the one year stamp to get a re-entry permit to cover that time period. You likely could obtain a multi re-entry but it would only be valid for the 30 days under review stamp. Then you would need to get a new re-entry permit after getting the one year extension stamp.

I thought that's what I was asking in #5, thus if my office 'will' give me the new 12 month extension stamp, about 1 month early, will I get the advantage of that 1 month early, making a total of about 13 months use of the multiple.

Apologies again you can give me a low mark out of 10 for not being with it.

I wasn't talking about getting a re-entry permit during the current permission to stay, but with the next.

Sorry I was reading as a marriage 30 days under review rather than early - decaf is not working. Yes you will get the full stamp at application time for retirement so can obtain the new re-entry permit as soon as the extension stamp is in passport.
