Police Getting Tighter On Bike Theft In Pattaya

I just got a call last night about 11pm the wife got pulled up by the police (she had to go out and get some noodles, surprise surprise) in the side soi outside our house, the police were taking bikes off people where their ID does not match whats in the green book, once they could prove ownership/allowed usage they could get the bike back from the impound.

The police officer suggested that my wife carry a copy of my license signed by me with her details and stating she is allowed to use the bike to avoid the above happening as the bike is in my name.

For the first time in 10 years I got pulled over in my pick-up at the train track road junction on Soi Neun Plueb Wan (East/Central Pattaya) on Monday. There was a line of cars/trucks and a bunch of motorbikes which had been stopped as well. There appeared to be a well-balanced mix of Thai and Foreign drivers for a change! We had a little chat in Thai (or at least my version of their languagewai.gif ) and I was sent on my way.
