If it is a multi entry then okay, if not did you get a re-entry permit?

You can enter Thailand with both passports, provided you have a re-entry permit or a valid multiple entry visa.

Immigration at the airport will transfer your details to the new passport or will tell you to visit your own immigration office to do that.

My husband just got his new passport and went to our closest immigration office to get the visa and multi-reentry permit transferred to his new passport. Visa based on marriage was no problems, but the officer was trying to tell us that he had to apply for a new re-entry permit as it is automatically cancelled when they transfer from old to new passport. Visa and RE permit are vaild till 12 July 2012 and I have checked in the new passport and it looks like they have transferred both. Our concern is we have to fly out of Thailand at the end of March and obviously don't want hassles when we return.

The officer said that if he didn't apply for another RE whether it be single or multi, then when he returns in early April his visa will be cancelled as he has no "current" RE. We are both confused as all stamps for visa and RE seems to be in the new passport.

Perhaps scan the re-entry permit and post it.

If it is a re-entry stamp not marked used, it should be a valid re-entry permit. Only a notation f a re-entry permit means only details were transferred, not the re-entry permit itself.
