Emoticons - What Happened?

There used to be many emoticons at one time. Now there are only a few (the ones that rarely ever get used). What happened to them? Is it only me? I do see a place where it says "Show all". I'm assuming that means show more icons but there is nothing to click to see more.

If you click on the 'Show All' text it will pop up the extended set. My complaint is that it should be an icon or highlighted as it is no longer obvious. When you move your mouse over the Show All it turns into an edit cursor.

Yes, that is a bit odd. Some new icons wouldn't go amiss also.
