KRS1
I guess you dont realize how s Sigma 501's For long trips 4-12 hours where i might possibly get my knee down, or when im riding with people that take too many stupid chances (gotta keep up ya know !). There pretty much water resistant in heavy rains, but not stepping into a deep puddle though, relatively light and can be worn with normal cloths without looking too much like a robot.Loosening the velcro strap lets me cool off my feet a bit when i slow down. Around town and short trips out of town 3-4 hours Harley Apollos, best dam_n boots i ever had. Light, flexible, zipper on the side for easy access and removal. The leather can be maintained easily by buffing out the scratches with a wet finger. Can wear them anywhere and look studly doing it. For gloves Alpinestars air flow gloves. Good cool airflow, lightweight carbon fiber knuckles, padding in lower palm, double stitched, can still retain finger sensitivity and feel natural not cumbersome. Unfortuantely i just sold my bike so sometimes i sit around with my gloves on like a freak. KRS1.. are you bikless at present ???? Just when Im a coming to CM ??? Yeah man , sold her two fridays ago....and am going through biker withdrawl at present Are you getting a new one.... just the thought of you sitting butt naked in your living room with just a pair of gloves on is enough to encourage a round of heavy donations I would imagine... ha. Am i getting another bike?....of course ! i sold this one so i can get some work done...i ride wayyyyyyyyy too much. Was thinking of going back to the US for a few months, but the thought of going back to high prices, obese women, & over priced beer in a bad economy isn't sitting to well right now. mcgriffith
OK, here's a little bump to the topic with another favorite item. My OGK helmet. Whaaaaa? Yeah, I'd never heard of the brand either, when I bought it from a race supplier friend of mine. Made in Japan, hand made, carbon composite shell, very good aero characteristics, almost no wind noise, removeable lining, tear-off posts on the visor. Same price range as a top model Arai. The FF-4 is an old model, now they sell the FF-5. Obscure brand, but top notch kit.

BlackArtemis
So I am in the US now and moving back to Thailand. I was only into monkey bikes like my old Chaly in my Avatar but want to jump up to something I can go riding around Chiang mai on. While I love the ER6n I am not foolish enough to jump on it as my first so I will be looking at CBR150's But I need gear and lucky for me I can get it cheaper here in the US than over there. $500-700 too low for a decent helmet and jacket (with spinal protection or separate armor) Been browsing http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/ and looking at perforated leather. And how would a white jacket hold up? If I jump up to an ER6n, I would love for it to be white, love the contrast. Thanks for any help or suggestions for a newbie! madjbs
Skip the CBR150 and get a 250 of some sort. White gear will be a nightmare to keep clean and will look bad once it gets a little older.
BlackArtemis
OK thanks for the input, just a lot of info to take in. I like the Scorpion Ex400 as it's Snell and DOT rated Picked up some rain gear just because Motorcycle/scooter will be my main form of transportation (Maybe a 1st gen celica with a 1uzfe is in the future, but no car for now) Shoes are easy to pick out But now there are so many options for jackets and pants and I have $315 spent already and don't want to go overboard nor do I want to skimp on safety. So a decent perforated leather jacket or a mesh jacket plus some armor to go on underneath. As for pants, decent mesh w/ pads or leather. I plan on getting a bike and riding it a few times to work, about 20-25 minutes in Chiang Mai going out of town. Then on weekends go out on cruises, longer trips as I get more comfortable. Read up on the CBR vs the Ninja, like the looks of the Ninja better, but I like the idea of the CBR due to not having to wind up the engine so much to make the power. Plus the difference in cost means I can still build another monkey bike. Again, Newbie here taking any input.

BlackArtemis
Thanks all I am settling on this: Helmet: Scorpion Ex 400 and smoke grey visor (and yes, it is a bit racerboy-ish) Jacket: Cortech Latigo flatblack Pants: Undecided on the Cortech latigo or the Tour Master Apex (leaning towards the Latigo to have matching upper and lowers, not liking the $100 larger pricetag than the jacket!) Gloves: still looking, Most likely some $40 pair that matches the rest. Shoes: I was liking these Shift kickers , but now they're out of stock, STG has them for $25 more. Looking at Joe Rocket Orbits or Velocity Raingear: Teknic Jetstream. I will be using this A LOT on Daily commutes comes summer, liking the yellow top that screams "some one is riding here!" Comes in under 24,000B Not bad since a Revit Leather jacket costs that much in Thailand. Just have some questions for you riders, which type of shoe do you prefer for Thailand? I like something that looks a bit normal. (Dammit, seems like both pairs of Joe Rockets are not in stock at multiple places and wont be back in stock until spring...) Ok then, time to find some shoes for under $

mcgriffith
A little bump to the thread. Here's my Dainese back protector. Has an aluminum honeycomb design that allows for air flow- very cool to wear in this climate.
