I've tried a search and found nothing useful and I've spent endless hours driving around trying to spot these things, where are they for goodness sake? I'm trying to bring the wife's car up to scratch and it needs two things, a paint job and the two front seats reupholstered, but where to go to get these things done? I suppose if I could read Thai that might help but I'm really struggling at present, anyone?

Aw come on, somebody somewhere in the Chiang Mai TV community must know where these things are, surely, do no expats in CM have automobile accidents!

I was going to leave this for someone else! I seem to be answering all the car maintenance questions for some odd reason.

Anyway,

1. Vietnamsilp on the soi directly on the north side of Govit School. Govit (spelling?) is on Changpuak Road - turn off the moat and up Chanpuak its not far up there. First school on the left. Vietnamsilp is directly opposite the school playground (in the soi) . It has a big wall and metal gate. It handles a lot of the insurance claims so might be busy.

2. On the moat (outside) - north side. Just before turn off to Sports Stadium is another place. Directly on the moat road and very close to corner as you turn off to stadium. Only see office and entrance at front - big workshop at back. Sorry can't remember name. Could be another ... silp.

3. Very small place on CM-Sank road on left side close to turn off to Mandarin Oriental. (Have to ask husband for phone number).

Seats - have used place on soi off superhighway just after old Carrefour. About 1km up soi on left. The place is an utter mess but their work quite good. Again have to ask husband for tel no.

You might want to try the dealer, Mrs CM drives a 1997 Lancer which she adores, hence the current paint and upholstery project. The front seats are threadbare and despite the age of the car the dealer can still supply original brand new seats but the cost of 17k each just doesn't seem worth it.

I finally found the Vietnam paint shop near Govit School, (thanks cmsally) interesting how these places are so cunningly disguised and tucked away from view. Lovely lady but she saw me comming, 45k for a respray (same colour), seems a tad OTT!

Tried to find the upholstery shop but failed, after the Payap Soi, any markers perhaps?
