Duel National Child - Passport Question

so the step-son has both an expired british and thai passport

just in the process of getting a new british passport

as the thai passport is expired , and the missus and kid will be visiting shortly, does the child need to also renew the Thai Passport ( he is 7 )

Can he leave Thailand on a UK Passport, and arrive back on a UK passport, or does he have to leave thailand on a thai passport, enter and leave the UK on a UK passport, and enter back into thailand on a Thai Passport?

would just renew the thai passport, but this involves the original father signing in a provence far away which will be difficult

The standard recommendation is always to leave and enter Thailand with the Thai passport and always to enter and leave the UK with the British passport.

He will need to leave Thailand on a valid Thai passport.

If he attempts To leave on a British passport he will be denied because there is no proof of entry to Thailand.
