100,000 Baht ransom paid for stolen truck at Big C car park in South Pattaya

PATTAYA:-- A 34 year old woman’s pick-up truck was held to ransom by a friend of her Son who demanded 100,000 Baht for its return.

Khun Somsee reported the theft of her Black Toyota Vigo on 12th February with Police from Burirum Province in the North-East of Thailand after it was taken from her house. An arrest warrant was issued for Khun Atit aged 19 who contacted Khun Somsee on Sunday and arranged to meet her in the car park of Big C Supercenter in South Pattaya where she would hand over the cash and he would return the car.

She contacted Pattaya Police who surrounded the car park and watched as the money was handed over. However officers moved in too quickly and the suspect was able to escape with the pick-up and the money, after badly damaging a further vehicle as he made good his escape. A chase ensued whereby Police fired at the pick-up a number of times
