Bad Cork In Glenmorangie Single Malt Scotch Whiskey Sold At Tops

Featured Replies

What I mean is, you go to open the bottle and the cork falls apart as you twist it out. And so you are left without a cork to seal the bottle after use, not to mention having to deal with little bits of cork floating around in the bottle. The little bits get into the glass too.

Now has happened to me for three out of my last four bottles. At $50 a bottle, you'd think they could figure out how to make something like this work.

Had the cork dried out - possibly the bottle was standing on its end too long

I too have this happen before but in Australia, have lovely collection of single malts that now have a space in the wine rack- wet corks :-)

JBL

The pieces of cork will complete spoil the glenmorangie, rendering it toxic. Please allow me to collect the bottles to ensure proper disposal of the noxious fluid.

Of the Whiskies I drink on a regular basis, they all have Corks: 10yr Original, La Santa, Quinta Ruban, Nectar D’or, Signet….

Perhaps the Bottles in Scotland are different? Or, you are mistaken.

I hope this is not a case that nationality (i.e. Scottish) automatically makes someone an expert in Whisky.

Scotch Whisky bottles in Scotland have metal crimped screwtops.

Agreed. All whisky bottles in Scotland come with screw tops.

Strange, When I buy Glenmorangie in the UK those bottles are also topped with cork.

Not to derail the thread or to sully it with the swill that I drink, but...

Is Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey available at all in Thailand?

thanks.

Dont forget the Cardhu, that also comes with a cork!

Mine is usually corked as well! Keep the cork moist and you won't have much trouble, but typically the bottle don't last long anyway.

At TOPS, the bottle probably been standing a long while.
