Non-Oa Visa

Featured Replies

My friend arrived from the USA today and he has a 1 year Non-OA visa that he got from the Thai embassy in Washington, DC. It is supposed to be a multible-entry. Is he required to report every 90 days? And he is going to go back to the USA for a visit in a couple of months. Will he need to get a re-entry stamp?

The 90 day report is an address report for people staying in Thailand 90 consecutive days or more, if he stays he does the report, if he departs then no and the count starts again upon entry. If he has a multi-entry visa, then no he wouldn't need a re-entry permit.

During the validity of his visa (1 year from date of issue) he doesn't need a re-entry permit to re-enter Thailand. By leaving and re-entering 1 day before the visa expires he get's another 1 year permission to stay in Thailand. But anytime he wants to retun to Thailand after the visa itself is expired he will need to have bought a re-entry permit before he left Thailand. If not, he wll need a new visa.

Are you guys sure about all of this above ?

I have been using for the last 5 years multiple entry OA visa's.

My opinion on this :

1. validity one year non extendable

2. have to leave the country every 90 days, on return get another stay for 90 days

3. when returning exactly on the last day the visa is valid, you get another 90 days

So in total you can stay one year and 90 (89) days in Thailand on this kind of visa.

But all of this is my idea how it works, kind regards, Leo.

in between you can leave and come back to the country as many times you want (as long as the visa is valid),

only every time can stay 90 days max, then have to leave again.

No reporting required, this is not an option. Do a run to one of the neighbouring countries, exit and come back.

Yes the answers are correct! You are describing the process for a multiple entry "O" not "O/A" An "O/A" visa is a preapproved "long stay" visa that you usually have to obtain in your home country which requires both a medical certification and criminal backgrund check. You are granted 1 year permission to stay upon entry, with only 90 day reports required. With the "O" visa you are only granted 90 days permission to stay and must leave and re-enter the country.

@Wayned and all others : sorry and thank you for the correction. I was misinformed about the subject. I thought I could contribute. But actually I learnt again, thanks for that. jap.gif

I read it all one more time at http://www.mfa.go.th/web/2482.php?id=2493 coffee1.gif
