Is Thailand mostly boring?

Takeaway gym and travel there is nothing much to do but eat or drink.

I might just work til I drop dead.

Find yourself some hobbies... or work till your dead.

Up to you, nobody here will give two fcuks either way.

In that sens,e pretty much like every other place on this planet.

Only, this one has good food, good weather, a beach, and friendly people. The place where I am currently staying, Germany, has none of these things, so I know where I rather would be.

But in the end, you come with the content of your own head, and need to make it work, wherever you are.

No need for travel, gym, eating or drinking to stave off boredom.

Consider yourself lucky if you’re able to work to that point, especially if you enjoy your occupation.

Boredom is the fault of the person who is bored....

C'mon @Rockyroad that reads more like an individual state of mind than point of fact!

Life is what you make it mate- its not what it is , its your attitude toward it, you strike me as the type who get into trouble anywhere he pleases 😄

WHO pissed on your chips mate?

Yesterday 100km bike ride, gym, sex in bath. Yet it all seemed boring.

The most enjoyable thing was the day before I ate a nice curry.

My passion seems to be curries. I watched a true crime show and the serial killer said his passion was murder. At least my passion is harmless.

Take away travel, eat & drink, and that doesn't leave much for any country. Language and minor cultural differences put most people off, and they have a hard time seeing past them.

What TH doesn't have, that I miss in USA

... Plays in English (surprise)

... Art Museums, of the caliber of USA & Amsterdam (which I loved)

... the food, since a melting pot of immigrants from basically everywhere.

Of course they have their own versions; plays & museums, which most don't interst me. But that's about it. Aside from that, I don't find TH any different than USA. I travel, enjoy the landscape, knock around & eat excellent food, when found.

Life needs work, dedication and a purpose. What is your purpose in life?

For someone speaking Thai you should know the difference between Rah Rua and Law Ling. Maybe get some Thai spelling books for anuban and refresh yourself if so bored. Ratna.

Lad Na is a common spelling.

The Most Common Spellings

  • Rad Na / Radna (Most Common & Official)

    • This follows the Royal Thai General System of Transcription (RTGS). You will see this on most restaurant menus, food blogs, and travel guides.

  • Lad Na / Ladna (Very Common)

    • Reflects conversational Thai. In everyday speech, many native Thai speakers pronounce the initial 'R' sound (ร) as an 'L' sound (ล).

  • Lard Na / Lardnah (Common Phonetic)

    • Often used by English speakers trying to capture the long "ah" vowel sound, though the "r" here isn't a true spoken consonant.

2. Less Common Phonetic Variations

You might occasionally see these on menus depending on who translated them:

  • Rat Na (Accurately reflects the unreleased 't' sound of the first word in Thai linguistic terms)

  • Lat Na

  • Raad Naa (Uses double vowels to represent the long vowel sound)

The Power of Now and A New Earth, Tolle breaks purpose down into Inner Purpose and Outer Purpose.

1. Inner Purpose (Primary)

Your inner purpose is the same as every other human being's: to awaken and be present.

  • State of Being: It is not about what you do, but how you do whatever you are doing right now.

  • Timeless: Inner purpose has nothing to do with the future, goals, or achievements. It is entirely about offering your full attention to the present moment.

  • Alignment: When you are aligned with your inner purpose, you stop using the present moment merely as a stepping stone to reach a future point.

"Your inner purpose is to awaken. It is as simple as that. You share this purpose with every other person on the planet—because it is the purpose of humanity." — Eckhart Tolle

2. Outer Purpose (Secondary)

Your outer purpose consists of your goals, career, roles, family, and actions in the physical world.

  • Subject to Change: Outer purpose changes over time—you might be a student, then a worker, then a parent, then retired.

  • Subject to Impermanence: Because everything in the physical world arises and passes away, any outer purpose alone will eventually fail to bring lasting fulfillment.

  • Driven by the Inner: Tolle emphasizes that outer purpose only becomes truly meaningful and free of egoic stress when it flows out of your inner purpose

Depends on how you define boring.

I once talked to a superrich Mexican dude in NYC.

He was from Mexico City and said "NYC was boring".

Nothing beats the excitement of not knowing if you are going to get gunned down or kidnapped by the cartels, reckon 🫪

Can understand the first 2 being boing, but the latter one, might mean it's time for a new partner, with more of an deeper, emotional attachment.

Or just mental expectation of the 'sex in bath' just didn't match the reality. It happens 🤣

What province you in, or were in ? I'm due for an O&A, and would be now, if not for holiday long weekend. Wife has follow up eye doc appointment Tues, then we're free till when ever.

Searching for something different, and it's a challenge. Damn small ass country 🙄

Hummin says

We do not live for yesterday. We live today, but we still owe tomorrow some respect. My inner purpose is to be present. My outer purpose is to create a life worth getting up for.

Now, what is your purpose Rocky ?

Just curious abut the book "The Laws of Human Nature" is that more about self discovery or understanding others? certainly explains alot of your comments on the forum. How is it?, any good ?

You're depressed

I believe that even healthy and well functioning people have felt lost or depressed once or twice in their lives, especially after something life changing like retirement, chronic illness, financial hardship, or anything else that disturbs life itself. I also believe many have felt true liberation when they retired, only to discover later that there is another side to it.

Robert Greene book. Owned it for 3 years. Read bits and pieces. Very heavy going. Talks about understanding human behaviour including words, actions and body language.

The Four Agreements is much easier reading but very good. Read it in 2 days.
