I bought my Nissan in 2008 when I thought I wanted to stay in Thailand forever. I bought the car new and at that time rented a house and had a type O non-immigrant visa.

I now want to sell the car but I am getting conflicting advice regarding the regulations

I no longer have the house and I since I am under 50 and not married to a Thai national I am reduced to a tourist visa.

Am I still able to sell the car and if so, what should I do?

You need a confirmation of your adress in Thailand, which you should be able to get at your local immigration. That together with a copy of the main page of your passport and a copy of your current visa (even tourist). Those 3 pieces of paper signed+ the blue book, and you should be able to sell the car.

Thanks for the reply. Would it matter that I am no longer resident at the address where the car was first registered?

Further since I gave up the house last year (largely because I couldn`t have a visa anymore) the car has been staying in hotels or in storage facilities would this make a difference. Effectively I have no fixed abode.

You will just need a confirmation of your current adress. Might need the help of your landlord, owner of guesthouse or hotelowner at immigration.

Where the car has been when not used is not important, just make sure that the taxsticker and 3.party insurance is up to date, makes it easier to sell. For that you only need to show the blue book.

What kind of Nissan ? Price ?

Mind you i was refused a sale of motorbike in Bangkok couple of years back as i did not have non-imm visa.

But as everything it depends on the day and the location so can be done without visa. For proof of address you can always get one from your embassy if immigration fails.

You'll have to have a letter that shows your address. (Even when staying at a hotel now) Once you've found a customer, please go to the transportation office. If you'll sell it to another province, different documents are needed.

Please address this question to the transportation department, it could be okay, but different from province to province.

If not, you'll have to make sure that your new address is in the blue book, again there could be a problem being on a tourist visa.to solve it If there's a bigger problem please try to solve it with some money. The whole country is running this system!

Good luck! jap.gif
