Sms Abuse

Featured Replies

Dear All

I would like some advice on how to stop someone sending wildly abusive sms messages from a Thai mobile. I am currently working in the UAE and I have a friend who is receiving up to 10 sms per day from a female Thai which contain practically all expletives. In some countries in this region to have such sms on your phone can be considered grounds for visa cancellation ie you loose your livelyhood

Is there anyway or perhaps body eg police that such completely unacceptable behaviour can be reported to so that it can be stopped?

please help

It may sound like I'm stating the obvious but why not change the sim if it's a pay as you go,or if it's on contract contact customer services to change the number.

A simple SMS to all those who need to know the new number can be sent at the same time,

Example, Hi everyone due continued harassment from a certain individual I have had to change my number,I can be contacted on this number as of now, please disregard my old number all the best Stoneyboy.

Some phones have a blocking procedure. Otherwise why not just let her burn her money? As long as he isn't replying she should get tired of it sooner or later.

It is a fair question. The problem here is that normally you use your fist sim to make all registrations, eg immigration, visa, police, driving license, and also simple ones like RTA for road tolls, electricity, water etc etc so in reality very difficult to do

re blocking, I have a new phone Samsung Galaxy S2 which does have a block, but this is only good to block calls not sms but I will check this

How does that expression go... A woman scorned?

A solution is to hire someone to take care of the "problem" in Thailand.

Even if there isn't a block, often there is a 'redirect' function- you could send all posts from her into a subdirectory that you never bother to look at, but delete out once in a while.

There is an app for that. many probably..
