The 10 new patrol cars were bought with 5.9 million baht provided by Royal Thai Police headquarters in Bangkok, said Phuket City Police administrator Charturong Laddayam. “The new patrol vehicles are expected to improve our international image and help our relations with tourists,” said Lt Col Charturong. Two of the new patrol cars will stationed at Phuket City Police Station, three at Patong Police Station, two at Chalong Police Station, and one each at Cherng Talay Police Station, Tah Chat Chai Police Station and Kamala Police Station. The only two districts not to get the new cars are Thalang Police and Thung Thong Police, which has jurisdiction over Kathu sub-district. “Before, we used old pick-up trucks to conduct patrols and for traffic control, but the new cars will be used for patrolling only,” Lt Col Charturong said. PoodMaiDai
“The new patrol vehicles are expected to improve our international image and help our relations with tourists,” said Lt Col Charturong. Seriously? Try not ripping off every tourist you see and actually helping them when they need it. THAT will improve your image, not new black cars.

chiang mai
The key words in the article are, " the cars will be stationed at..", I fear these cars will see precious little patrol work.

Ha ha ha. I was pretty much thinking similar, except I was thinking maybe they hired a couple of big linebackers from the NFL.

alfalfa19
I trust these new cars are equipped with lazyboy recliners, and depository boxes for cash donations.
