Re Entry Permit - Wrong Stamp ?!

Featured Replies

hi

i have a student visa (valid until august) and i left the country last december. i had my re entry stamp made at suv airport and everything was correct.

i came back to thailand in the 30th of december and had a normal stamp in my passport, one that states that i entered on the 30th and that i have 30days, until 28 january... i thought this was weird but i didnt ask, i assumed the officer knows what stamp he s supposed to use. now i have to go for 90day notification (by the end of march - i have no notice in my passport but i counted the days) and i commented this situation with a friend and she thought she was weird and that probably got a wrong stamp... i am freaked out about this, scared ill have to pay some huge amount if money, that my visa is not valid anymore...i dont know...thoughts??? i could really use some advice !!!! thanks

You had a student visa (which allows a 90 day stay or multi 90 day stays) or you had a one year extension of stay from immigration? A re-entry permit only provides the current permitted to stay date stamp on return.

You really should have taken care of this when you noticed the error (and if you did not believe it was an error you should not have stayed longer than allowed). If indeed you should have been provided a longer stay on entry you need to contact immigration and explain your concern and that you indeed used a re-entry permit on your December entry and while counting the days became concerned about the stamp. If a mistake it is quite late but may be possible to correct - if not you may have to exit and pay almost 20k (500 baht per day) in overstay - so you need to take care of this ASAP.

Technically, you're already a month and a bit "overstay". You need to visit the "wrong stamp" department at immigration immediately and if it's not already too late, sort it out.

i have a student visa with a one year extension... which ends in august... i left the country and since my visa is single entry i got a re entry stamp... i did everything correctly , if anything is wrong, it was the officers mistake...

If you had a 1 year extension and used a re-entry permit, it was just a simple mistake which can be sorted out at immigration. At Cheang Wattana road they even have a special desk for correcting mistakes.
