March 10, 201214 yr I think that this is a Bangkok jobbie. I cannot remember the government department (it may have been Ministry of Foreign Affairs?) - but I used to have a list of the hoops that a foreigner had to jump through to get a house registered in his/her name. It can be done. It involves translation services as well. My advice - a lawyer is your best be for real advice. (Preferably one that has practiced in Bangkok - more used to the government departments there.)
March 10, 201214 yr I googled this site http://www.thailawonline.com/en/property/thai-house-book-yellow-and-blue.html It points you to issan.com which was not relevant in my case. I am married to an English girl - not Thai. That was why I had to go to Bangkok. The only reason that I did not finish the 'project' - not enough time. I had to go overseas (come back and start again!) Good luck
March 10, 201214 yr About 10 yrs ago I went to the local government office, to get one of these yellow books, but they seemed reluctant to give me one, making all sorts of excuses, and of course the usual, jumping through hoops etc., I finally lost patience with them and travelled to the central government offices in Bangkok, found the relevant office, and explained my problem. One of the senior officials was very sympathetic and explained to me that there was no reason why I should not have been issued with the relevant book, he then went into another office and telephoned my local district office, on his return he told me to apply again and that there would be no problem, and if I did encounter any problems not to hesitate and phone him direct. On my return to my local district office, surprisingly I was treated with the utmost coutesy and quickly issued with my yellow book. After a few months I found out the local office had wanted a donation from me, before they would issue me the book, this leads me to suggest that if you do not want to donate, then your alternative is to go to Bangkok and hopefully find a sympathetic official, you may be lucky the same as me.
March 10, 201214 yr The best thing you can do, is to go to your local office and ask them what THEY require from you to issue a "thor lor 13" (spelling?), as every office interprete the law as they wish, have that list written down by one of them and be ready to show it up back to their face as soon as you got all the listed papers and they try to tell you it is not ok.....if you still experience hostility, try Issan Lawyers as they seems to have a large experience in dealing with just such cases....

Normally lawyers can sort out the path way for donations. what are their benifits having a yellow book?
March 10, 201214 yr what are their benifits having a yellow book? it's just some sort of residence certificate that doesn't expire, it take off the need to see face to face the bib(and pay) everytime you need that certificate, lets say to buy a new car or whatever, and you can use it in the future if you intend to take citizenship. Apparently you can listed on it in two different way, one of which is the "head of the house" which apparently have the power to remove names from the household, so i am wondering if a yellow book can actually be cancelled on this way without the holder even to know it?
