Thai Culture Of Revenge

simple1

Recommended Posts

This morning on Pattaya radio news was a story of an attempted shooting murder of a Thai female shop owner. Allegedly her son has phoned her warning of a possible attempt on her life as an acquaintance was jealous of his flirting with his girlfriend. On a personal matter my Thai wife will not approach a Thai neighbour regarding his constantly barking dog for fear of "revenge"

Can anyone shed any light on the Thai culture of violent revenge?

I'd say it's the same as any other country. Some people believe in it and some don't. It's a roll of the dice in any country when you confront or upset someone, you may get a polite response, a good hiding or worse.

A British detective who was in Thailand remarked on the high numbers of murders, he said "appears if you have a pickup truck you are 90% on the way to the perfect murder" in the villages where the Vast majority of Thai's we interface with come from, nothing has changed, they still think this way! so be careful in your dealings with all Thai's?
