"Thaksin has conveyed his message that anyone who misses and wants to see him can meet him in Laos," Pheu Thai MP Somkid Balthaisong said yesterday. Thaksin plans to visit Laos from April 13-15, Somkid said upon his return from Hong Kong, where he talked to Thaksin for about 10 minutes. One of the reasons us expats like to live in Laos rather than Thailand is that it is relatively safe - no downtown free-fire zones in the capital, no closure of airports to name a couple of episodes. Yes, there is a lot of stuff that is wrong with Laos - poverty, sclerotic political system (but just because Thailand has "democracy" does not mean that its system is less sclerotic when power resides with 40 families etc) and sometimes not easy to get things done. But if you want peace and tranquility, you can find it in Laos. What we don't want is a Thaksin who will create chaos and who merely enriches himself on the backs of the people while making them think that he has their interests at heart. Actually I think that we should take up a petition to keep Thaksin out of most places on the planet where he can cause trouble - even a "Keep Thaksin off the moon" petition would get my vote! 13 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It's a long-standing tradition that people return to their homes to honor their parents and grandparents. I guess it shows where Thaksin's family values lie when he encourages people to abandon their families for Songkran and massage his ego by making a trip to Laos just to visit him. Then they start to mature. Thaksin's political time, equates to teen years in the real world. See how much we can get for him..... if they don't pay enough....we can bring him over the Mekong River at night and deliver him to his sister's authorities and see what she will do with him....after all there is a warrant for his arrest.
