March 17, 201214 yr I need to replace the outdoor portion of an a/c unit- the inside unit is still functioning. Is there somewhere I can buy one used (that's not going to just crap out on me in a week)?
March 17, 201214 yr They are so cheap. Why not buy new? We tried it once. Never again. We bought a used A/C. The seller came highly recommended, they were very nice and assured us that would not happen. They said the unit "was as good as new" but no guarantee of course. It lasted all of 6 weeks and failed. They came back but could not fix it - no charge. We had 3 different companies look at it and all said the same. It would cost too much to fix it - just buy a new one. Lesson learned.
March 17, 201214 yr Same experience as elektrified. As part of a deal, our Landlady committed to install three A/C units. She tried to pull a fast one and installed second hand units, just complete junk, apart from the inefficiency and electricity cost which shouldn't be underated. After many attempts to get them working properly she gave up and installed modern new ones. If a Thai can't make a sucess out of it a farang stands little chance...... P.S. trying to mix and match only part of the system sounds like a double road to trouble.

March 19, 201214 yr Hi, if the compressor unit is not too old it can be fixed ....my experence is either the compressor needs replacing or its a simple electric fault. Get a RECOMENDED shop to take a look first, they will give you a price to fix or replace it
