Thais Taking Long Jouneys (Getting Lost)

Featured Replies

Recent government findings collected through reports made at local police stations through out the kingdom revealed: Over 3 million Thais took extra long jouneys last year while travelling.

Findings show that most found thier destination within 24 hours,12% took up to 48 hours with 3.2% taking longer.183 travelers went on the missing persons report. The main reason for jouneys taking a long time was visiting relatives in the country side that they had not visited for a number of years.

A Mrs Pattiwhat 47 years when interviewed revealed ,that it had once taken her 3 months to reach her uncles home and had to take work in shops and factorys to support her jouney. When asked why she did not call the relative she replied that it was not nesasary as she could remember what her uncles home looked like.

I imagine quite a few get lost because they asked for directions

Not CM related. Moving to General

"Moved to General" : LOLz. (Hint: it's not reality related; read again.

(either lifted from Not the Nation, or someone getting creative.. :P )

I love it. I've been on the way for 70-odd years, and still haven't got there. But it's been fun all the way.

It's all about the journey, the destination is just the full stop at the end.

Often, when you get there you find it's not where you wanted to be anyway.

I can completely relate to this. I am an impulsive driver, which in my mind reads when I leave a motorway, and then suddenly the road splits with no signs either way, I always take the wrong road. Always. Without fail. I am actually very good at navigating when on foot, and in the past even in a car have been obscenely lost in 3 continents but usually find the way back eventually. But in Thailand not having a good grasp of the written language I get so confused that it's not amusing. however, I have found and seen some remarkable things when lost that I would never have found if I had been using satnav. One memorable occasion in Australia I ended up in a small cafe on a hill top that served the most fantastic home made cakes in the middle of nowhere. If I am not in a rush I don't worry about it. In the UK though when in a rush, getting lost in Bristol was my personal nightmare.
