I have recently started work here in thailand about 2 months now. my work permit and visas dates overlap. My 1 year visa is due for renewal soon.

I understand i can extend my visa on presentation of a valid work permit and a receipt showing that i have paid tax on my income.

The the criteria for visa renewal is that i have to pay tax on at least 40000 baht per month or 400000 a year. But for example if I am earning 40000 baht a month but have only been working for 2 months can i just pay the tax due on the 2 months salary of 80000 baht?

Also i read that i have to show a tax slip for the previous year? how can this work if I have just begun working?

Is this feasible.

any words of wisdom would be appreciated

"The the criteria for visa renewal is that i have to pay tax on at least 40000 baht per month or 400000 a year."

Those are the numbers needed for renewal based on marriage.

I suggest you talk to your employer about your renewal.

My wife is my employer. And all the othere paper work is in order just curious about the requirements for the tax on salary?

You should not have to pay any tax on the 80.000.

???????????

An income of 40,000 a month requires payment of taxes, shouldn't be that much and depends on personal circumstances. I believe a couple of thousend baht per month, somewhere bewteen 3,000 and 5,000 if memory serves me..

It is the tax documents that immigration wants to see as proof of income.

Think the OP is planning a 2.18 extension showing Thai Income of 40,000 pcm (Thai Spouse) not a 2.1 extension (Employment in the Kingdom of Thailand).

What is required is at least last month's PND 1, plus in some areas they ask for the last three month's PND 1 (Receipt for tax paid on salary of >= 40,000 THB pcm).

The definition of working in this case is how long you have held the Work Permit; If you also held the Work Permit last year, then you will have to show last year's PND 91 showing 40,000 THB paid for each month of employment (480,000 THB if employed for the whole tax year). You would probably be required to show the PND 91 was filed, even if you were not working.

Immigration will also want to see employment papers plus all your marriage papers (KR2,3).
